The percussion workshop POLYPHONICA DRUMS TEAM was established in April of 2014, under the direction of experienced musician Giorgos Fasolis. This workshop was designed to bring children in contact with rhythm and the percussion orchestra. Initially, using the voice and body like a percussion instrument (body and vocal percussion) and then such instruments as the African djembe, boomwhackers (plastic tubes), toubeleki (oblong folk drum), and everyday utensils, the children rhythmically tune in to the common rhythm of the group.
Cooperation and communication among the members, community and teamwork, enhancement in concentration and self-respect, but also the enthusiasm and the joy of collective musical creation are some of the benefits acquired by the children who take part in a percussion orchestra.
Head of the percussion section/teacher: Giorgos Fasolis, Μichalis Afolanio
